Supplement labeling can be confusing so pay attention to the details. Turmeric root and its biologically active extract of curcumin, is a popular supplement for almost all conditions. Its popularity is due to its strong anti-inflammatory power. But not all turmeric supplements are absorbable and bioavailable.

Truly potent turmeric supplements will contain a standardized curcumin extract. Look for a turmeric supplement with at least 50% standardized curcumin extract. The supplements I recommend contain 95% standardized curcumin extract. These are doses and the extract that have been studied to reduce inflammation, digestive issues, assist with cancer, relieve joint pain, and improve mental health.
🛑 Stop taking ground up turmeric root
Ground up turmeric root contains some curcumin in it. You could make your own turmeric supplement by getting turmeric powder on the spice aisle or eating raw turmeric root. But the doses in these preparations are far too low to achieve any marked decrease in symptoms or pain.
