WynnPharm DONA - Product Review

WynnPharm, also known as Wynn Pharmacy, is a company originally created in 2005 to take over the distribution from Rotta Pharmaceuticals, Inc. They now offer a variety of unique brands and products for various issues, including joint health, women’s health, pain relief, and vitamins and minerals. Their most unique formula is DONA, a joint health and flexibility supplement that uses crystalline glucosamine sulfate. It is used to maintain and stabilize the cartilage between your joints. Whatever your age group, you need to be paying attention to your joint health so that you remain mobile and pain-free.

What is WynnPharm DONA?

DONA is a glucosamine supplement used for joint health. It isn’t a standard discount brand glucosamine. Every supplement store and pharmacy carries glucosamine supplements. You can even find bargain sized bottles at Costco, Walmart, and Amazon. But DONA utilizes a unique patented crystalline glucosamine sulfate format. You won’t find DONA’s patented crystalline glucosamine sulfate in bargain brand glucosamine products.

Glucosamine is naturally occurring in your body and more specifically in your cartilage. Your joints are the points in your body where two bones meet and are held together by fibrous tissue called cartilage. An example is your knee joint. This is where your femur and tibia meet. Like most glucosamine supplements, DONA is derived from shellfish. Avoid DONA glucosamine supplements if you have a shellfish allergy. Glucosamine may also affect your blood sugar levels, so stop taking glucosamine two weeks before elective surgery to ensure your blood sugar levels stay steady during and after surgery.

There aren’t many drug interactions with glucosamine, but there are a couple. Namely, glucosamine can interact with both acetaminophen (Tylenol for example) and Warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven). The interaction between acetaminophen and glucosamine can lead to reduced effectiveness of both glucosamine and acetaminophen.

On the other hand, the interaction with Warfarin can lead to increased effects of Warfarin as an anticoagulant, increasing your risk of bleeding and reducing the chance that your blood will clot properly if you become injured. Check with your doctor if you are taking a blood thinner.
