L-5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) is an intermediate neurotransmitter, converted from the essential amino acid L-tryptophan in the body, and converted to 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin) and N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine (melatonin).
