In response to stress, the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis signal to the adrenals to release catecholamines and cortisol
Prolonged stress is associated with dysregulation of the HPA axis, which can affect catecholamine and cortisol levels
