Large Particle Pre-Filter

The Austin "it" Large Particle Pre-Filter is the standard pre-filter for your personal air purifier — and the starting point for every "it" owner.

Wrapped around the outside of your unit, this pre-filter acts as a first-pass barrier, intercepting the visible particles that float through your indoor air every day before they ever reach your main HEPA and carbon filter system. Think of it as your purifier's first checkpoint — stopping the obvious troublemakers so your main filter can focus on the finer stuff.

What it captures: 

• Dust and household debris
• Human and pet hair
• Pet dander
• Lint and fabric fibers
• Large airborne particles visible to the naked eye

Why It Matters:

• Without a pre-filter, large particles accumulate directly on your main HEPA filter, causing it to work harder and wear out faster. The large particle pre-filter protects the main filter investment, maintains optimal airflow, and keeps your "it" running at full efficiency — saving you money over time.
• This pre-filter is recommended for all Austin "it" users, and is especially valuable in homes with pets, high dust levels, or anyone who vacuums frequently and stirs particles back into the air.

VOC Carbon Wrap

The Austin "it" VOC Carbon Wrap is an optional upgrade to the standard large particle pre-filter — designed for those who need a deeper level of air cleaning beyond particle capture alone.

Where the large particle pre-filter handles the stuff you can see, the VOC Carbon Wrap goes to work on what you can't: the invisible layer of gases, odors, and volatile organic compounds that off-gas from everyday household products, furnishings, and outdoor sources — and that a particle filter alone cannot address.

What it helps absorb:

• Household odors — cooking, pets, smoke, musty smells
• Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from cleaning products, paints, adhesives, and furniture
• Chemical fumes and off-gassing from new carpets, flooring, and building materials
• Gases from personal care products, air fresheners, and scented candles
• Light smoke and associated chemical byproducts

Why it matters:

• HEPA filtration is exceptional at capturing particles — dust, pollen, mold spores, pet dander. But gases and VOCs are an entirely different category of pollutant. What's the Difference?

The Large Particle Pre-Filter handles the stuff you can see. The VOC Carbon Wrap handles the stuff you can't. If particles, hair, and pet dander are your main concern, start with the standard pre-filter. If odors, chemical sensitivities, or VOCs are a factor in your home, upgrade to the VOC Carbon Wrap.

Can I use both at the same time? No — these are designed as alternatives to one another. Select the pre-filter that best suits your needs and swap it out every three months.
