DHEA, which stands for dehydroepiandrosterone, is one of the many hormones produced by the adrenal cortex. The androgen DHEA is a precursor to testosterone as well as estrogen. Plasma levels of DHEA and its sulfated form (DHEAs) decline approximately 80% between the ages of 25 and 75 years old. In addition to decreased downstream hormone levels, low DHEA may be associated with aging, fatigue, increased cardiovascular disease, bone loss, low libido, erectile dysfunction in men, and cognitive performance.

Suggested Use

Massage into inner arms, thighs, chest, or apply to inner forearm and rub arms together until absorbed. Use once or twice daily as desired. Each pump delivers 20mg of DHEA.

More research on DHEA supplementation is needed, but so far studies have suggested a variety of benefits. For example, research has demonstrated improvements in building lean body mass and reducing fat mass, as well as increased muscle strength when combined with weightlifting training, in older individuals. Preliminary research suggest DHEA benefits bone mineral density in certain populations. Topical application of DHEA has been shown to improve the appearance of aging skin by increasing sebum production and epidermal thickness, resulting in improved skin brightness and papery appearance.
