Flora Synergy® contains the probiotic bacillus coagulans and prebiotic fructooligosaccharides (FOS) to help support normal immune and digestive response. Bacillus coagulans—a lactic acid-producing bacterial endo-spore— aids in maintaining intestinal microflora balance. The FOS nourish the bacillus coagulans, which allows the bacteria to aid in digestion. Flora Synergy® offers:

Unlike many other probiotics, these bacteria remain in spore form until they reach the small intestine—surviving inhospitable conditions such as high temperatures and stomach acid. Upon reaching the small intestine, the bacillus coagulans colonize and help maintain balance among the 500 species of microflora naturally found in the intestinal tract. The bacillus coagulans create an acidic environment that is unsuitable for potentially harmful microorganisms and replenish the system with those helpful in digestion. This colonization helps to keep bacte-rial overgrowth from occurring and aids in nutrient absorption. Taking Flora Synergy supports proper digestion, nutrient absorption, and normal immune function.

Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) – Taken from chicory root, FOS provides the nourishment bacillus coagulans need for colonization to occur and strengthens the bacteria to further support the digestive and immune systems.
Bacillus coagulans – As a gram-positive bacterial endospore, bacillus coagulans aids in balancing intestinal microflora (which is known to absorb 90% of all nutrients taken in by the body).
