Seratran is a dietary supplement uniquely formulated with the neurotrans- mitter precursor 5-HTP and vitamin and mineral cofactors. This supplement was designed to support:
• Normal serotonin production

Over 90% of serotonin is produced by enterochromaffin cells in the gastro- intestinal tract while the remainder of serotonin is produced in the brain. These two sites of serotonin production remain distinct as serotonin cannot cross the blood brain barrier. Serotonin produced in the brain acts as a neurotransmitter affecting mood, cognition, circadian rhythm, neuroendo- crine function, cravings, and appetite. The serotonin produced in the gut acts as a hormone affecting GI function, bone formation, immune function, and metabolism. 5-HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan) is a precursor to serotonin; it is absorbed by the gut and can cross the blood brain barrier. 5-HTP is then converted by the brain and the enterochromaffin cells in the GI tract producing serotonin.
