Colostrum. Chances are that is the first time you’ve read that word. Maybe you were intrigued by the cow and calf picture and decided to see why something called “Colostrum” warrants its own blog post. Or, maybe you read our previous post and know all about the wonders of colostrum and are thirsty for more information.
Before I bring in the numbers and details, let’s do a quick recap of colostrum.
Colostrum is the first form of breast milk (the “pre-milk fluid” ) that a mother produces after she has given birth. Did you know that all mammals produce this form of milk? Yes, even humans! Very nutritious and beneficial to the new form of life, this milk fluid helps prevent disease and infection. Colostrum supplements are taken from colostrum from cows. Think of colostrum as the “superhero version” of the cow’s milk you buy at the grocery store.
There is some fine print you should be aware of, however. Real colostrum that will provide the best nutrients and benefits to you in supplement form is from the first six hours after the calf is born. Immune Tree is the only colostrum on the market with true six hour colostrum. Dr. Anthony Kleinsmith, Immune Tree’s founder, has devoted the bulk of his professional life to studying nutrition for both human and animal health. With his focus being in the topics of anti-aging, immune support, and weight management, it is truly amazing to read about the benefits of his colostrum product line.
Leaky gut has been a mystery to medical professionals for years. In recent years, we have seen an increase in people suffering from leaky gut. Whether it be because of frequent use of e-cigarettes, high fructose diets, or ignoring lactose intolerance, a leaky gut is a physical and mental hindrance that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. Luckily, Immune Tree can help. Taking a daily dose of colostrum powder can prevent Leaky Gut from occurring by attaching to zonulin, the protein that regulates the permeability of your digestive tract.
When zonulin opens the junctions in the digestive tract, Leaky Gut occurs. Colostrum comes in to save the day (and your gut) and you shouldn’t experience the painful bloating, gas, and abdominal discomfort. For more information on zonulin, Leaky Gut, and my thoughts on maintaining good gut health, check out my previous blog post here.
I’m answering all of your burning questions right here. Get your pen and paper ready, because there are quite a few:
If you’re dairy free or lactose intolerant, good news! Colostrum does not have any lactose in it, as it is produced before the cow gives birth. There is little to no lactose present in the supplements.
Colostrum can be taken by people of all ages, even your pets! I do recommend that you consult your primary health physician before providing some to your child. If you want to provide some to your furry friend, I recommend sprinkling some in with their food. Something interesting to note: there was a study done in 2016 looking into the benefits of colostrum on children suffering from recurring bouts of respiratory tract infections and diarrhea. The results were fascinating - the colostrum decreased the severity and frequency of hospital visits.
Colostrum can be taken in powder or capsule form. For the powder form, the recommended dosage is ½ teaspoon twice daily. The powder can be dissolved in liquids, blended into smoothies, or even sprinkled on top of food like applesauce. For the capsule form, it is three capsules twice daily for people 12 years old and older (on an empty stomach). For children ages 6-12 years, it is 1 capsule daily twice daily.
Colostrum isn’t an animal product or a vegetable, so under a vegetarian diet it would be acceptable. If you are adhering to a strict vegan diet, this may not be the product for you, depending on your personal views with the diet.
I recommend starting low and slow---as always. I once listened to a podcast where the speaker said he had been taking 3 tablespoons per day to heal from a massive injury. I promptly took a tablespoon of colostrum and ended up with a fever. That experience reminded just how potent and powerful colostrum can be. It truly activates immune cells. The dosage that I recommend is ½ teaspoon twice daily for those 12 years old and older (or 3 capsules twice daily) and then increase slowly to 2 teaspoons per day.
Immune Tree has a very humane and ethical way of collecting their colostrum samples. They make sure that the calves are well cared for and receive the sufficient amount of colostrum from their mother to maintain their own health and growth. The excess is then provided to make supplements for us, the happy customers. It is also important to note that the colostrum that comes from mother cows is not species specific. That is, we can take it as humans and there will be benefits. This is not the case with goats, however. Their colostrum is species specific.
Don’t Just Take My Word For It!
Steven T. says, “I've always seemed to catch every cold or flu bug. My colds were severe and then I would get a sinus infection and have to take 1-2 rounds of antibiotics. Immune Tree colostrum changed my life. I now only get a cold once every 2 years and it is mild. I've gotten the flu once and that is because I quit taking colostrum for 2 weeks. Never again. I've been using Immune Tree for 6 years.”
April C. says, “I've been dealing with an autoimmune disorder for a few years now. And a few months ago, before flu season even hit I woke up one morning realizing that I would not survive more than a couple years if I didn't do something drastic. I had taken some colostrum capsules for a while and it helped tremendously, but because of the expense I had quit using them. But how expensive is death? So I started taking them again. Then I got hit with the flu in November. All I could 'eat' were a couple spoonfuls of colostrum powder throughout the day for about a week. After that I have been depending on it to help me recover as much of my health as possible. I've worked out a special formula that works well so as long as I'm very careful to get enough rest and eat a low inflammation diet I almost feel well most of the time. So I guess you could say I highly recommend this product.”
Pat says, “Living Tree Colostrum 6 has been a godsend to me. It has restored my energy and helped heal a recent debilitating flare-up of microscopic colitis. I highly recommend this product. It was recommended to me by a physician.”
A healthy body begins with a healthy gut. 85% of your immune cells are in your digestive tract, so that needs to be your focus when trying to alleviate disease and symptoms. Assessing, and then reassessing how you feel inside and out is very important. Immune Tree’s mission of “putting you back in a balanced position” is a great way to celebrate a change in the seasons. As we look towards a new season and new challenges to face, I hope you and your loved ones stay happy and healthy.

Whether you have cable or a streaming platform like Hulu, you are bound to be hit by marketing ploys from various companies. Using celebrities to market products and dazzling the audience with colorful graphics is one way to enter a competitive market… Microbiome Labs, on the other hand, is doing the exact opposite in their marketing. Microbiome Labs doesn’t need to set aside big budgets for their marketing strategies, their products speak for themselves.

Most people don’t know anything about the long-term effects of COVID unless it has touched them in some way. Most people are so afraid of the virus that when they get it, they are relieved to report that “it wasn’t that bad.” I can’t tell you the number of people I have talked to who tested positive with very mild symptoms that lasted less than 24 hours.
