NeuroScience - It’ll Blow Your Mind!

by Carly Neubert, BA, NC on July 07, 2021

Neuroscience has many connotations to us. To some, it brings up an image of an extremely difficult college major. To others, it is purely the study of how we analyze our brains and nervous systems. To me, however, I think of the brand “NeuroScience” and the top-performing and cutting-edge formuations they are providing. NeuroScience is taking the knowledge we have gathered about our brains to create unique solutions to help your nervous system. On their website, they describe this as “[recognizing] unique biochemistry rather than designing one supplement for one symptom.”

The study of neuroscience has been an integral part of life since the early civilizations of the Egyptians. Did you know that the Egyptians believed that our thoughts, emotions, and personalities stemmed from the heart, not the brain? That is why they removed the brain in their mummification process and left the heart in the mummy. If you think about it, we have come so far as humans. Today, we continue to map out the billions of brain cells that compose our brains and nervous systems and try to develop solutions to the deterioration and damage of those cells.

NeuroScience, the Brand: What You Need to Know

Led by Bill Sevold and Abigail Marinack, NeuroScience aims to provide premium products that work, not just ones that are at a certain price point. NeuroScience provides products in many different categories. This is a great place to start if you are looking for a more natural way to address your anxiety and sleeplessness. NeuroScience provides holistically created formulas in weight management, anxiety reduction, sleep management, and overall mood boosting (to name a few).

An important focus that NeuroScience gives in their mission and quality statements is “consistency”. Consistent studies and consistent results can provide consistent satisfaction. They achieve this by implementing three important operational aspects to their laboratory environment:

  1. Scientific research - Professional studies and journals are analyzed and reviewed. Raw materials are also professionally sourced and tested.
  2. Quality manufacturing - Close relationships with manufacturers are held at a high priority to keep the standards throughout the production process.
  3. Independent testing - In-house as well as independent third party evaluations are conducted to ensure high quality products and professional results.

Something else to include is that NeuroScience collaborates as well as depends on industry-specific professionals for their input. I believe this to be very impressive. This relates to the study of neuroscience because of this deliberate collaboration and assistance. Each part of the nervous system helps each other, and NeuroScience reflects that in their business.

Product Spotlights:

For Anxiousness/Stress: Alpha GABA - 90 Capsules

If you’re feeling the need for some downtime to refresh and recharge after being mentally stimulated, or just need some help managing feelings of stress/anxiousness, this is my recommended product. GABA is an important neurotransmitter in the brain. GABA deals with feelings of calm and sleep. By stopping nerve transmission in the brain, the body stays calm. If you are feeling high levels of anxiety, your GABA neurotransmitters are at a lower level than normal. This is a great place to start to address feelings of anxiety. The price point is also optimal when you compare the cost of seeing a psychiatrist and paying for a prescribed anti-anxiety medication.

For Weight Management: Balance D - 60 Capsules

Are you having issues feeling full and satisfied after a meal? Something you may not know is that the chemical dopamine is responsible for these feelings of “fullness.” Dopamine releases to the ventral tegmental area (VTA) where feelings of satisfaction are modified. If dopamine is not sent to the VTA, these feelings are never modulated. The ingredients in Balance D help move the synthesis process of dopamine along so that they can be utilized in determining the actions of the reward center of the brain.

For Sleep: Serene - 60 Capsules

Everyone needs and deserves a good night’s sleep. It doesn’t seem like it’s a big request, but for 70 million Americans who suffer from insomnia and other sleep disorders, it’s easier said than done. Serotonin is a vital component of the sleep cycle balance. This neurotransmitter regulates our sleep and our mood. Serotonin is a precursor to melatonin as well. Low levels of serotonin are correlated with levels of depression and insomnia. If you’re having issues with taking melatonin supplements or other sleep-aids, this could be a good option to check out.

For Mood: AdreCor

Stress. It stresses you out just thinking about it, right? Stress is not ideal, but prolonged stress is detrimental! Prolonged stress occurs when the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis is not properly regulated and becomes inflamed. The most universally accepted method to combat this is taking a supplement of vitamins C and B. AdreCor utilizes these two vitamins, along with other vitamins, to promote a good mood and less stress-induced physical symptoms.

For Cognition: Avipaxin - 90 Capsules

Acetylcholine. Quite a mouthful, right? This is the neurotransmitter that promotes mental acuity and attention. These critical processes, called cholinergic signaling, involve mental acuity and memory. Pre-clinical trials showed success with subjects feeling more clear-headed and focused. Acetylcholine also deals with brain and muscle function. While we are still learning about diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, we do know that low levels of this neurotransmitter can correspond with occurrence of those diseases.

For Gut Health: Digest DTX - 90 Capsules

If you’re binge-reading some of my blog posts, you will probably notice that I am passionate about gut health and improving overall digestion. There are lots of products in the market that claim to improve your digestion and give way to gastrointestinal comfort. Many of these products are not made up of natural ingredients, however. This is a concern for many consumers right now with the increased focus on healthy lifestyles. Digest DTX is made up of naturally-derived enzymes to break down any toxins in the digestion process. Proper gut health is my jam; If you’re interested in reading more about products I recommend, lifestyle changes that aren’t life altering, and more, check out the links below!

The Future of Neuroscience

In an article posted by the Journal of Neuroscience, the Society for Neuroscience’s 50th anniversary in 2020 prompted them to reflect on their successes and look ahead at the goals they hope to address in the coming years. One of the goals that they would like to achieve is analyzing neurodevelopmental diseases like autism and schizophrenia. Developing a more robust knowledge base for these diseases has proven difficult in past studies, as they are hard diseases to analyze.

The brain-computer interface is also expected to be looked into further. These interfaces can be seen in prosthetic limbs as well as vision imagery for the blind. An improved understanding of diseases is also a goal of theirs. This relates to increasing the precursors to mental illnesses and analyzing how genetics and lifestyles can affect the individuals. Creating a more diverse and inclusive future for neuroscience requires a thorough knowledge of all genders, races, ages, and demographics. This could mean including more females in studies, as opposed to the standard right-handed male.

The study of neuroscience goes beyond the healthcare and medicine field. Neuroscience is being used in marketing strategies and how we live our lives day-to-day. The potential is immense, and I can’t wait to see the results in the coming years and how NeuroScience as a company responds.

In Closing...

Neuroscience is quite the beast to manage. Hopefully I provided enough insight into our brains, what they need, and how NeuroScience can help. After the current COVID-19 pandemic, prioritizing our mental and physical health should be at the top of every American’s to-do list. Wishing you and your loved ones good health - mental, emotional, and physical - all year long.
