By serving as a food and energy source for these beneficial bacteria, prebiotics support the growth and activity of a healthy intestinal microbiota. Galactomune® provides a rich source of galactooligosaccharides (GOS), a type of prebiotic found in human and cow milk that has been shown to support growth of healthful Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus species in the gut.

By promoting a healthy balance of intestinal microbiota, prebiotics support the development and maintenance of a healthy immune system. GOS and beta-glucan, a soluble fiber with prebiotic activity, have also demonstrated immune supportive properties. Both ingredients support the body’s innate immune response and adaptive function to unfavorable environmental stimuli and bacteria.
Supports Healthy Intestinal Bacterial Balance
Healthful intestinal bacteria ferment prebiotics, such as GOS into short-chain fatty acids. These short-chain fatty acids beneficially increase intestinal acidity (lower pH), which helps to create an inhospitable environment for unfavorable bacteria. Beta-glucan may additionally support a healthy immune response to a wide spectrum of bacteria and yeast.
