Seeking Health Optimal Prenatal with Collagen

Pregnancy is a very nutritionally demanding time.

You’re supporting the nutritional needs for:

    • Your own, personal, everyday activities
    • A developing baby averaging 7-9 pounds
    • A 3 pound placenta (an entirely new organ)
    • A 2 foot long umbilical cord
    • Your breasts increasing in size by 50%
    • Your blood volume increasing by almost 50%
    • Breastmilk production

Protein is an essential nutritional component. Of all the proteins in your body, collagen is the most abundant, making up about 30%. The functions of collagen are many, but its main role is to provide structure, strength, and support. It is the primary building block of your connective tissues, as well as your baby’s. By using collagen, you are providing the necessary elements to support the development of your child and placenta.

Collagen also supports the health of your skin, hair, and nails. It is common for women to develop stretch marks during pregnancy when their bellies rapidly expand and the collagen and elastin fibers in the skin break. Supplementing with collagen during this time supports the healthy repair of these fibers.

Optimal Prenatal with Collagen uses hydrolyzed collagen type I peptides sourced from 100% grass fed bovine. This form of collagen has been verified in preclinical studies to be well absorbed by the small intestine and circulated in the blood for use throughout the body.

Another incredibly important group of proteins are enzymes. Your body performs countless functions every second. Many of these functions are done by enzymes. In order to function, many of these enzymes require nutrients. If nutrients are not present, these enzymes cannot do their job.

If you have enzymes not performing their job while you’re trying to conceive, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, something terrible may happen.

Dr. Lynch has researched complex nutritional biochemistry, nutrition, epigenetics and genetics for over 20 years. During his research, he learned which enzymes are commonly problematic during pregnancy - and, most importantly, why.

Every time you take Optimal Prenatal with Collagen, you’re nurturing important enzymes for you, your placenta and your developing baby.

Eating a balanced diet while pregnant is difficult for many due to nausea, morning sickness, and sensitivities to tastes and smells. Swallowing capsules can be just as difficult. Optimal Prenatal with Collagen provides 17 grams of protein, 13 grams of carbohydrates and 2.5 grams of fat per serving. Taken as a meal or a snack, it helps to fill in the nutritional gaps of a limited diet. The delicious vanilla flavor and slight sweetness from organic cane sugar and monk fruit extract appeal to your taste buds while ginger and vitamin B6 support stomach comfort.

    Dr. Lynch’s Tips

While you may not want to eat in the morning for various reasons, it’s especially important to do so when you are trying to get pregnant, are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Starting your day off with sufficient protein, healthy fats, quality carbohydrates and comprehensive nutrients will help you significantly throughout your entire day.

Oftentimes, the periodic nausea and vomiting of pregnancy is worsened by lack of protein and lack of nutrients. By making a smoothie with Optimal Prenatal with Collagen, you will support healthy energy.

While it is easiest to mix 1 sachet in a glass of filtered water, Dr. Lynch highly recommends you make a smoothie instead. Here are some reasons why:

    • Additional protein is useful. Add 1 glass of goat milk or a nut milk of your choice. If you use cow milk, look for A2 organic milk.
    • Mixing the sachet in water doesn’t taste nearly as good. Someone had a great point and said it tasted like the milk you have leftover from eating cold cereal.
    • Adding ½ to 1 cup of frozen organic berries like blackberries, raspberries or blueberries, adds a nice cold temperature to your smoothie in addition to a great taste and antioxidants.

This is a nutrient-dense prenatal. Dr. Lynch recommends drinking your morning prenatal smoothie in this way:

    • Blend 1 full sachet in 1 cup of your desired milk
    • Add ½ to 1 cup of frozen organic berries
    • Blend for 15 seconds
    • Add to an insulated stainless steel water bottle or glass.
    • Sip it over time. Don’t chug it. You’ll digest it better and feel better if you drink it over time.
    • Give yourself about 30 minutes to finish your smoothie.

A great nutritious breakfast for your kids, too!

Depending on the age of your kids, you can make a smoothie and give them some:

    • Age 4 to 7: Use ¼ sachet
    • Age 8 to 12: use ⅓ sachet
    • Age 12 to 15: use ½ sachet
    • Age 15 and up: use ¾ sachet

Dr. Lynch does not recommend giving a full sachet to any age kid as pregnancy, breastfeeding or trying to conceive requires more nutrients than otherwise.

Dehydration is a common issue - for everyone - regardless if pregnant or breastfeeding. Once you’re done with your smoothie, prepare a serving of Optimal Electrolyte with filtered water in your water bottle.

Sip that throughout the day. You may find yourself needing another serving later in the day.

Iron is not included in the prenatal vitamin for these reasons:

    • Every woman is different. Some need a lot of iron and some cannot have any.
    • Iron can be pro-inflammatory. High risk pregnancies should be careful about taking too much iron.
    • Iron can be obtained, and should be, from eating red meat or organic liver.
    • Iron interferes with calcium absorption. Just because a nutrient is listed on the label does not mean you’ll absorb it. Research shows this interference is a real issue.
    • If you’re taking iron supplements, take them with lunch or dinner.
    • Seeking Health offers Iron Chewable at 10 mg per small, great tasting tablet. Take the amount that you need.

Fish oil is not included in the prenatal vitamin for these reasons:

    • You need more than what’s commonly found in a prenatal vitamin.
    • EPA and DHA are recommended, not just DHA
    • Powdered fish oil supplements really smell and taste badly. We want you to enjoy your smoothie.
    • It’s easy to take a fish oil supplement after your dinner.

Experiencing periodic morning sickness or intermittent nausea and vomiting of pregnancy:

    • If you’re using the Optimal Prenatal with Collagen and you are still experiencing these symptoms, then consider adding Histamine Digest and ProBiota HistaminX.
    • High histamine levels are associated with the intermittent nausea and vomiting of pregnancy.
    • Support healthy histamine levels by taking 1 capsule of Histamine Digest any time you need support and 1 capsule of  ProBiota HistaminX after dinner.

Assess each statement below. If you relate to one or more, then Optimal Prenatal with Collagen may be the prenatal vitamin you’re looking for:

    • I prefer drinking a nutritious morning smoothie versus swallowing a bunch of capsules.
    • I’m busy in the mornings and I don’t eat usually even though I should. The added 17 grams of protein, 13 grams of carbohydrates and 2.5 grams of healthy fat support a nourishing yet fast breakfast.
    • I’m looking for the most comprehensive, nutrient-dense prenatal available.
    • I want my breastmilk to be as healthy as possible for my baby. I understand that my breastmilk is only as healthy as the nutrients I get into my body.

    • Recurrent miscarriages have happened. I’m looking to support a healthy, full-term pregnancy with a comprehensive prenatal.
    • I’ve experienced pregnancy complications in the past. I suspect it was because my prenatal vitamin was not as good as it needed to be. I’m looking for the best prenatal available.
    • I experienced a previous pregnancy that resulted in birth defects. I would like to do all I can to support a healthy pregnancy. Using a very nutritious prenatal is something I know I need to do.
    • Periodic morning sickness is a problem for me during pregnancy. I’d sure like to experience a healthy pregnancy and be free of periodic nausea and vomiting. The added ginger, potent amount of vitamin B6 along with 17 grams of protein from grass-fed collagen supports this.
    • I have experienced gallbladder issues in previous pregnancies. I’d like to experience a healthy gallbladder while pregnant.
    • Gestational diabetes is something I experienced before. I’d like to experience healthy blood sugar levels while pregnant.
    • I experienced mastitis while breastfeeding in the past. I would like to support healthy milk production and milk flow while breastfeeding. The added choline and sunflower lecithin support healthy milk flow.
    • Stretch marks were apparent during my last pregnancy. I would like to support healthy skin while pregnant.
    • My hair and nails were struggling during pregnancy and breastfeeding. I would like to support healthy hair and nails while pregnant and breastfeeding.
    • A prenatal with specialty ingredients is extremely difficult to find. I am trying to find it.
    • I am looking for a prenatal with effective amounts of: choline, carnitine, PQQ, lutein, magnesium, calcium, vitamin D, vitamin K2, real folates containing folinic acid and methylfolate, real B12 as methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin, sunflower lecithin, glycine, CoQ10 and taurine.

If a number of those resonated with you, then Optimal Prenatal with Collagen is something that you should seriously consider.

If none of the statements above relate to your current life situation, then Optimal Prenatal with Collagen is most likely not something you need right now.
